Lost my desire to quilt.

In August we moved from California to Texas. I left my dream job at a quilt shop and the city we’re living in has no quilt shop. I have my quilt room set up for sewing and quilting but so far just no desire to make anything. I am really hoping this is temporary. There are a couple of quilt guilds but with COVID I am sure they are not meeting. I think that would give me an incentive also.

Chula

Made a small quilt for our friends, Robert and Socorro, and their Wonder Dog, Chula. I found a pattern for a leaded glass depiction of a Rhodesian Ridgeback and thought of a Chula. I also found a great fabric with the breed on them. During shelter in place because of COVID I had plenty of time to play. So this was a fun labor of love.

Kimono Girls

Working on Kimono Girls design by Tilda’s World. I had some shiny objects aqua fabric with gold highlights and enough for the background so that got me started. I also had a lot of shiny objects fat quarters which would make the kimonos and sashes. Some fairy frost fabrics in my stash gave me fabrics for the flowers and buds. I had to order the black polished cotton for the hair and a neutral fabric for the faces. I used heat and bind featherlite to adhere the flowers and then stitched around them with batting behind. I am hoping when I quilt the flowers will pop out like trapunto. I will post again when I get the quilting done.
I don’t like the way the faces look like their bottoms are pointed. I guess the neck piecing fabric should have had more of a contrast. When I quilt I hope it will disappear.

Spectacular Savannah

During my Covid-19 lockdown I have been completing my Elizabeth Hartman Spectacular Savannah quilt kit. I now have the animals together and am working on the leaf top and bottom rows.
Just finished quilting and when I have my cutting table back (I have a ink fabric design taped down) I will trim and do binding.

Tree of Hearts

Made a Valentine Tree with heart die cuts. Now my mind is racing and I’m thinking Shamrock Tree, Easter Egg Tree, Star Tree, Fall Leaf Tree. But what I can do and what I imagine have a time conflict.
