In September 2024, Pretty Birds was displayed at the Garden of Quilts show at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah.
I loved making Fancy Forest so I knew I’d love Pretty Birds by Elizabeth Hartman too. Bought the kit because I wanted all of Elizabeth Hartman fabrics. A few years ago I had found some Laurel Burch bird flannel at keepsake quilting on sale and bought all they had which was about 7 yards. So I knew this would be the backing. The backing background color was dark blue so I changed the kit background fabric to dark blue. I cut everything out before starting. I had all the birds labeled and completed all 8 of one bird before going on to the next. It was very fun but the last two birds did challenge me because I had been working so long.
I copied Natalia Bonner videos to quilt Fancy Forest and did the same with this one. Ruler work and then filler.
